How to make your big day hassle free...
I've been in the wedding industry for over 5 years now and have seen it all when it comes to the getting ready portion of a wedding. At this point in your day everyone is usually relaxed, sipping on mimosas or coffee, screaming the songs you and your girls love, the nerves haven't quite found their way to you yet, and it feels kinda like a weight is being lifted off your shoulders. All the time and thought you've put into every detail of your day is coming together right in front of you! You're having a great time and... IT'S TIME FOR ME TO ARRIVE!!! WOOOOO!!!!
I love the energy when I walk into room of best friends getting ready together and the last thing I want to do in this moment is kill the vibe and have everyone scrambling for the details, rushing to steam dresses, find matching hangers...the list goes on.
Your wedding day is packed full of joy, love, and once-in-a-lifetime moments. To help me capture your special day to the best of my ability, a little prep work can make all the difference! So I've put together a "packing" list of all the items I'll need on deck when I arrive as well as few other tips.
1. Details for Flat-Lays
I love capturing those small yet meaningful details that tell your story. Have these ready before I arrive:
- Your wedding dress, beautifully hung on a decorative hanger.
- Veil, shoes, and jewelry.
-Bouquet
- Wedding invitation suite (including envelopes and RSVP cards).
- Rings (engagement and wedding bands) and ring box.
-Grooms details (Tie, cuff links, socks, shoes, watch, cologne, ring, all other special accessories)
- Perfume bottle or a special keepsake, such as a handwritten note or heirloom.
Pro Tip: Place everything in a small box or bag so it’s easy to grab and go!
2. Coordinate Your Bridal Party
Having your bridesmaids dresses steamed and hung, and make-up nearly complete when I arrive helps my team capture candid moments, group shots, and genuine emotions. Matching robes or outfits also add a sweet touch for getting-ready photos!
3. Stick to Your Timeline & Loop me in
I usually have a general idea of the wedding day flow and what photos are needed. However everyone does it a little differently.
Share your wedding day timeline with me beforehand so I can plan for every important moment, from your first look to the golden-hour portraits. I also ask please loop me in on any special photos you may want that are out of the ordinary wedding photos. This would include a special song, surprise dance, or a staged photo that's special to your family. I also ask please, please, please put together a list of combinations for family portraits. This ensures we won’t miss any photos of the most important people at your wedding and makes post ceremony photos run efficiently. (There is space to do this on your questionnaire I send out after booking!)
4.Relax and Be Present
This is your day to shine! Take a few deep breaths, enjoy your morning, and let me handle the rest. Having water, snacks, and tissues handy will keep you feeling fresh and ready to embrace every moment.
By taking these steps, you’ll give me the opportunity to fully capture the beauty, emotion, and story of your wedding day. Let’screate something beautiful together—you’re going to look absolutely radiant!
